Quotation One

"A joke is a very serious thing."
-Winston Churchill

this quote is on seriousness and how someone can't live through life without a joke. I believe Churchill was trying to convey that a joke can be funny and all. But sometimes can be taken seriously and then bring in consequences. So in conclusion, A joke should be thought about how it will effect another person before telling it.

I think this relates back to when the beatles were very popular and John Lennon said that the beatles were bigger than Jesus. He didn't mean as they were more important but as they were more popular. People took the joke seriously and it ruined the career of the beatles for alittle while. John should have thought about how people might have perceived the joke and not said it or said it in a different context.

It was probably said during his reign as Prime minster of United kingdom during WWII.
